How We Pick
Short version: we do the homework so you don't have to, and we're upfront about what we haven't done.
What we look at
- Amazon listings: specs, what's in the box, who sells and ships it, and whether you can actually add it to your cart.
- Buyer reviews: the star rating, how many people rated it, and what keeps coming up in the complaints (durability, fit, battery life).
- Manufacturer info: the brand's own specs, instructions and safety warnings. When a detail comes from the brand or the listing, we say "per listing" or "per the brand."
- Safety sources: guidance from groups like the American Academy of Dermatology and the FDA, especially for light and microcurrent devices.
- Expert reviews, when we cite them: if we mention another publication's pick, we link to it so you can read it yourself.
What we don't do
- We don't run hands-on or lab testing. If that ever changes for a product, the page will say so clearly.
- We don't repeat brand claims about results as if they're proven. "FDA-cleared" means the FDA reviewed it for safety and intended use, not that it works for everyone.
- We don't post exact prices. They change by the hour, so we group picks by price tier and date our checks.
How a product makes the list
It has to fit the page's question, be buyable on Amazon when we check, and have a track record in reviews that matches what the listing promises. We'd rather recommend fewer tools than pad a list.
Keeping it fresh
We re-check links, stock and price tiers regularly and before big sales, and we swap out picks that go out of stock or change. Every guide shows when it was last updated.
About the money
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. That commission never changes your price.
